Job Description

As a Superintendent at Apex, you are pivotal in overseeing and managing all aspects of construction projects on-site. You will ensure that projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements. Your leadership and coordination skills will be instrumental in directing field operations, managing subcontractors, and maintaining effective communication with project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Safety Leadership: Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to enforce compliance with safety protocols and regulations. Promote a culture of safety among all team members and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to safety standards and best practices. Provide necessary safety training and orientation for field personnel and monitor ongoing safety performance.

2. Field Operations Management: Supervise and direct field crews, including subcontractors, foremen, and other personnel, to ensure efficient and timely project completion. Coordinate daily construction activities, manage work schedules, and allocate resources effectively to meet project milestones. Resolve field issues and conflicts promptly, implementing solutions to maintain productivity and quality.

3. Quality Assurance: Implement and enforce company quality control standards throughout all project phases. Conduct regular inspections and quality assurance checks to ensure workmanship meets project specifications and industry standards. Address quality issues promptly, collaborating with project teams to implement corrective actions as necessary.

4. Project Coordination: Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents to understand project scope, requirements, and constraints. Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and other stakeholders to plan and execute project objectives effectively. Monitor project progress, report on milestones and achievements, and communicate deviations or challenges to stakeholders promptly.

5. Communication and Reporting: Serve as the primary point of contact on-site, liaising between project teams, subcontractors, and management. Provide regular updates and reports on project status, including daily logs, progress reports, and issues resolution. Document and maintain accurate records of project activities, change orders, and any deviations from project plans.

6. Resource and Equipment Management: Manage and optimize the use of labor, equipment, and materials to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Monitor equipment performance, coordinate maintenance, and facilitate repairs or replacements as needed. Implement protocols to ensure proper handling, storage, and maintenance of construction materials and equipment.

7. Team Leadership and Development: Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, leading by example and promoting a culture of teamwork, safety, and accountability. Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to field personnel to enhance their skills and performance. Support the recruitment and onboarding of new team members as required for project needs.

8. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with local building codes, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines throughout the project lifecycle. Coordinate inspections and permits as required, maintaining documentation and records for regulatory authorities.

9. Training and Development: Stay current on industry related training and education. Develop skills through mentorship and education and assist in the development and training of new Apex team members on industry related practices as well as company policies, protocols and procedures.

10. Apex initiative: Always be prepared to have the willingness and flexibility to undertake and perform any tasks, duties or responsibilities outside of the general scope of work outlined for your role at the direction of management and/or for the success of Apex.
